Abstract

(Combat capabilities and state of the Roman army in the African provinces in the light of the relations of the Firmus rebellion [372–375 A.D.]): This paper tries to assess the combat capabilities and state of the Roman army in the African provinces in the period of the revolt of Firmus. It concentrates of analyzing sources relating the revolt. The results of this analysis will help to answer the question whether Roman troops stationed in Africa were able to fulfill their tasks effectively.
