Innovative Teaching Methodologies in Lifelong Guidance. Problem-Based Learning as a Guidance Tool In today’s complex society, career guidance is a formative emergency because of the increasing difficulty in making decisions, managing transitions and taking paths which are supposed to be constantly revisable and amendable. Therefore, it becomes necessary to assist a person to cope with various occupational and social changes in a flexible way. The research hypothesis underlying the study is that the didactic methodology of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is effective in developing strategic competencies (problem-solving, decisionmaking) and can thus be applied in career guidance activities. Starting from the assumption that PBL has been effective in the didactic reorganisation of school and university curricula, the hypothesis will be validated through a process involving 15 unemployed or first-time jobseeker users of the Centro Lego of Foggia (Italy), for a period of 5 weeks. By using appropriate tools (guided tours, workshops, questionnaires, tests, logs, individual and group interviews, and focus groups), the users will be assisted in the guidance process, and will directly experience the PBL method and verify its effectiveness. The study underway aims to experiment an effective and innovative approach to career guidance in order to help users to develop their own career plan.
