Who educates children?Intra-generational educational processes in a suburb of Maputo
Abstract
This paper discusses educational processes among children in social life in a suburb of the city of Maputo, Mozambique. Based on the recognition of children as competent social actors, empirical data were constructed through an ethnographic case study, complemented by participatory methods. Results show that, in the studied context, education cannot be considered as a linear and unidirectional process, but it is marked by a high degree of complexity, taking into account the multiplicity of involved actors, senses and forms.Key-words: children, education, Sociology of Childhood, Mozambique.
