Reeditar é preciso? As cartas oficiais norte-rio-grandenses e os corpora diacrônicos / Is it necessary to reedit? The Rio Grande do Norte official letters and the diachronic corpora

Abstract

Resumo: São bastante estreitas e profícuas as relações entre a Linguística Histórica e a Linguística de Corpus, sobretudo a partir da década de 90, quando a primeira ganha fôlego renovador no Brasil, tendo na edição de corpora diacrônicos uma das motrizes basilares para seu progressivo desenvolvimento. Sob o signo desse entrelaçamento entre as duas áreas, este trabalho, através da análise de conteúdo, apresenta um caso de reedição de corpus diacrônico, as cartas oficiais norte-rio-grandenses (1713-1950), e, por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, propõe algumas reflexões acerca do contato entre esses dois campos de estudo no Brasil e dos impactos, positivos e negativos, do meio digital nessa conexão. O artigo revela como alterações nas orientações de uma investigação podem justificar um processo frutífero de reedição e evidencia tanto riscos éticos quanto aprimoramentos funcionais a que esses corpora estão sujeitos devido a fatores como a tecnologia e a internet, propondo, ao final, que haja maior visibilidade das questões levantadas no estudo. Abstract: The relations between Historical Linguistics and Corpus Linguistics are quite close and fruitful, especially from the 90’s, when the former gains renewed breath in Brazil, having in the edition of diachronic corpora one of the basic drivers for its progressive development. Under the sign of this intertwining between the two areas, this work, through content analysis, presents a case of reedition of a diachronic corpus, the Rio Grande do Norte official letters (1713-1950), and, through bibliographic research, proposes some reflections about the contact between these two fields of study in Brazil and the impacts, positive and negative, of the digital medium in this connection. The paper reveals how changes in research guidelines can justify a fruitful process of reedition and highlights both ethical risks and functional improvements to which these corpora are subject due to factors such as technology and the internet, proposing, in the end, a greater visibility of the issues raised in the study.
