MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES AS A TOOL TO INCRESE THE EFFICIENCY OF LANGUAGE EDUCATION IN RUSSIAN UNIVERSITY
Abstract
The competitiveness criteria for Russian universities say that the awareness in English is no longer a luxury, it is becoming an effective tool for higher education development. There is a keen demand for advanced methods and approaches to foreign language teaching, thus this problem impelled the author to address the analysis of massive open online courses (MOOCs) with the aim to study possibilities of integration them as a ready educational package into the existing system of language education. The study resulted in the conclusion that it is didactically unreasonable to take these courses in use without a preliminary adaptation to the current educational system.
