“I APPEAL TO YOU WITH A BUSINESS PROPOSAL...” (FROM CORRESPONDENCE WITH PROFESSOR N. KONDRASHOV)

Abstract

The article includes letters of professors N. Kondrashov and A. Khrolenko in which actual problems of higher education of the 1980s are discussed. Special attention is paid to the development of new curriculum and textbooks on General linguistics. The controversial aspects of the preparation of new manuals on linguistics for students are discussed. The current works are analyzed. The article shows the tradition of the Soviet high school in the field of humanitarian education, aimed at creating exciting author’s courses and the implementation of a consistent regularity of mastering the basics of linguistic knowledge from “Introduction to linguistics” to “General linguistics.”
