I siciliani nella Tunisie Mosaïque del XX secolo. Note etnografiche e fonti orali per una convivenza complessa
Abstract
This essay aims to analyze the representations of the Sicilians of Tunisia of the twentieth century. The background of their daily life was a plural Tunisia in terms of nationality, religions, social components, even if it was veined by imbalance in power (the French protectorate first, the independent State since 1956 after). Dynamics of separation and mixing ambiguously characterized the social relations of Sicilian people. They tended to share their experiences with the French, Tunisians and other nationalities, but on the other hand they tightened the borders on an "ethnic closure", too.
