During the paper deals with the graphic-visual and symbolic features of the card game popularly known in Brazil as baralho and will investigate the material and immaterial aspects involving the setting of playing cards (materials, shapes, meanings and uses) of its rise to the twenty-first century. It will also cover how the cards can be used in the preservation of cultural identity of a people with examples of cards created.
