L’insertion actuelle de l’Association des États de la Caraïbe (AEC) dans le commerce international
Abstract
The purpose of this article is the analysis of foreign trade and FDI of the natural Caribbean trade area that can be covered by the Association of Caribbean States (ACS). From the post-2000 UNCTAD and WTO statistics, we highlight the existence of trade difficulties of the ACS in external markets (more for goods traffic than for services), revealing difficulties of competitiveness structure of the zone. The productive renovation of the ACS could be based on FDI which nevertheless appears to be insufficiently developed in this area (notably its island region). The major effort must also focus on human capital to adapt to the current globalization and significant actions must be taken to improve transport, the energy and environmental transition, the reduction of insecurity of goods and people.
