Introduction. The article presents the lexical-semantic classification of behavior verbs in the Khanty language; defines the semantic feature, according to which the selection of verbs in the lexical-semantic group of behavior verbs was carried out; describes the semes involved in the distribution of verbs into subgroups. The subject of the research is the peculiarities of semantics and functioning of behavior verbs. Purpose. The author aims to identify and describe the semantics, to determine the composition and structure of the verbs of behavior in the Khanty language. Methodology. The method of component analysis, the method of contextual analysis and comparative analysis of the value of the token were used in the work. Results. The verbs of the Khanty language behavior have not been subjected to a special monographic study until now; basically, the study of verbs of this semantics in the Khanty language has been but fragmentary. We have identified ten semantic groups: the verbs of unnatural, unauthorized, insincere, frivolous, irresponsible, immoral, unceremonious, unbalanced, dishonest behavior, the verbs of human behavior in relation to material goods. Further, within these groups of behavior verbs, subgroups of verbs were identified, which are formed on the basis of a repeating differential seme. The selected groups are in complex semantic connections, intersect with each other, forming a complex semantic system, formed mainly by units that represent different forms of negative behavior. Practical implications. The materials and conclusions of the study can be used in the compilation of dictionaries of the Khanty language, in the comparison of genetically related languages.
