A study of the relationship between organizational socialization and commitment of teachers Hamadan secondary schools

Abstract The purpose of this study has been to determine the relationship between organizational socialization and organizational commitment among high school teachers. Population of this study was all of the teachers that were working in high schools of Hamadan city in 1389 and of this number, 143 persons were selected by single-stage cluster method. For collecting of data, 2 questionnaires have been used: questionnaire of organizational socialization Klein and colleagues ( 2006), and questionnaire of organizational commitment Allan and Mayer ( 1991 ). After a pilot study the reliability coefficient was calculated from the two questionnaires that Cronbach's alpha for organizational socialization 0. 75 and for organizational commitment was 0.77. This model is includes six components of organizational socialization (task, language, politics, goals and values, history, colleagues) and the three components of organizational commitment (affective, normative and continuous). The results showed that the main research hypothesis was confirmed , therefore, there is a significant positive relationship between organizational socialization and organizational commitment . (p<0.05).Among the components of socialization , 2 dimensions of duty and colleagues have been significant predictive power for organizational commitment . Regression analysis also shows that there is significant and positive relationship among the total dimensions of organizational socialization and emotional commitment . Among these dimensions, the task , goals and values show's a significant relationship with emotional commitment . Also a positive relationship was observed between six dimensions of organizational socialization and continuous organizational commitment that dimensions of language , politics and colleagues have a significant relationship with continuous commitment (p<0.05) . The results showed that the relationship between six dimensions of socialization in general and normative commitment is positive and two dimensions of policy and task have a significant relationship with normative commitment (p<0.05) .
