Environmental sustainability policy. Progress has been made in the context of university

Received: September 25, 2018 Approved: October 28, 2018 This work was carried out in order to reflect on progress in the field of sustainability policy toward the university environmental management in the context of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela. The methodology used was structured through the document review and analysis of contents. The study was conducted in three phases; the first focused on the collection of bibliographical material on sustainability and progress in this area at the university level in Venezuela. The second phase was based on analysing the environmental treatment expressed in the legal and political framework of the Venezuelan State. The third phase was to propose a policy of sustainability for the Bolivarian University of Venezuela. The results of the review show that the Venezuelan universities have weaknesses in the implementation of sustainability, there are isolated actions linked to the theme, but very far from constituting an environmental policy.
