Microsurgical management of anterior communicating artery aneurysms

Objective To explore the operative experience of anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysms treated with microsurgery via pterional approach. Methods The clinical manifestations, angiograms, and surgical operation in 52 patients with ACoA were retrospectively analyzed. Results Clipping of aneurysms was successfully achieved in all cases. According to Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS), 47 patients (90.38%) were discharged in good condition, 3 patients (5.77%) were in slight disability, 2 patients (3.85%) were in moderate disability. Conclusion Pterional approach to an anterior communicating artery aneurysm is an excellent accessing method. DOI:10.3969/j.issn.1672⁃6731.2012.01.013
