EMOTIONAL PERSEPTION OF THE ATMOSPHERE OF MYSTERY IN GOTHIC NOVELS AND THRILLERS

The article is dedicated to the study of the emotional perception of the atmosphere of mystery in gothic novels and thrillers. Mysteries were under the peer study of scientists for many years and up to modern times, which make people to pay attention to strange and non-understandable things around us, making them interesting for researches, taking into considerations all the changes in society and environment. Mysteries are associated with sycrets and silence, which became the object of the proposed article. In our article the linguocultural approach to the study of concepts was used, which enables us to single out informative, figurative and interpretational components, each of which emphasizes on some particular features, which are characteristic of the concepts under analysis. The conceptual features, which are characteristic of the concepts MYSTERY, SILENCE, SECRET, were studied. The frame structure of the concepts under analysis is composed from such spheres as actants, predicates, attributes, quantificators, space and time. With their help all the main and most prominent characteristics of concepts MYSTERY, SILENCE, SECRET were represented and the peculiarities of their usage in the gothic novels and thrillers were studied. The material under investigation shows the characteristic features of the concepts under analysis in the most composite way as far as the atmosphere of mystery is the prevailing feature of these genres of literature, they were developing together and mystery plays the key role in these works of literature. It was determined that all constituent parts of the analysis of concepts MYSTERY, SILENCE, SECRET show it both from positive and negative sides, and at the same time indicate the binary character of the concepts under analysis and their ambiguity.
