In the article, the social and communicative competence of adults is considered as the ability to relate their aspirations with the interests of other people and social groups by creating partnerships and effective communication within the framework of socially acceptable behavior. The most well-known valid diagnostic methods for the study of this phenomenon are analyzed, namely "Assessment of the level of formation of social and communicative competence" by O. Kovalyova, diagnosis of communicative social competence (KSK) by M. Fetyskin, V. Kozlov, G. Manuilov, "Questionnaire of social and communicative competence" (CCM) by V. Ovcharova. The author conducted a ranking and identified three main subcompetences of adult people (communication skills, cooperation, customer orientation), which are indicators of social-communicative competence. For the evaluation of the investigated phenomenon, in accordance with the selected indicators, it was proposed to use a number of diagnostic techniques, such as:diagnostics of the general level of communication (by V. Ryakhovsky), definition of styles of interpersonal interaction (S. Maksimov, Yu. Lobeyko), method "Personality characteristics with customer orientation" (F. Nerdinger). It is proved that social and communicative competence of adults reflects the level of development of communicative skills, human skill in interpersonal communication and relies primarily on psychological knowledge about oneself and other people, on the chosen strategy of interpersonal interaction.
