Detached house, town house, row houses and gated community: four figures of inhabited individualityThe demand for individual housing in France is as strong as it was 50 years ago, despite the regulatory obstacles caused by sustainability requirements to the urban sprawl. The phenomenon of periurbanization has opposed to the traditional urbanity of historic city centers since the 1960s. Today's urbanistic and architectural solutions ought to include as well the current issues of otherness, individuality and privacy. Mixed-density compromises (row houses, etc.)may offer some individuality while allowing to live in the city.
