Abstract

<p>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The purpose and scope of this paper may be summarized as follows : <br />An attempt to make the Industrial Engineering community aware of the existence and potential benefits of Expert Systems technology, <br />providing a superficial introduction to the basic concepts and terminology of Expert Systems, <br />and exploring some of the interfaces between Industrial Engineering and Expert Systems as well as the possible worthwhile applications within the South African context.</p><p>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: <br />Die doelwit en omvang van hierdie artikel kan soos volg opgesom word : <br />'n Poging om die Bedryfsingenieurswesegemeenskap bewus te maak van die bestaan en potensiële voordele van Ekspertstelseltegnologie, <br />die verskaffing van 'n oppervlakkige inleiding tot die beginsels, konsepte en terminologie van Ekspertstelsels, en <br />'n bespreking van en Ekspertstelsels Afrikaanse konteks sommige van die koppelvlakke tussen Bedryfsingenieurswese sowel as die moontlike toepassings wat binne die Suiddie moeite werd mag wees.</p>
