THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROCESS APPROACH TO INCREASE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ HISTORICAL ACADEMIC WRITING SKILLS BASED ON ORAL STORIES IN SWCU
Abstract
Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hasil penerapan pendekatan proses dalam pembelajaran menulis karya ilmiah sejarah berbasis cerita rakyat yang bermuatan sumber sejarah. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa UKSW semester gasal tahun akademik 2021/2022 sebanyak 90 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kegiatan pembelajaran menulis karya ilmiah dengan menggunakan pendekatan proses. Prosedur penelitian yang digunakan adalah perencanaan, pelaksanaan, analisis data, dan penulisan laporan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar catatan lapangan dan dokumentasi proses pembelajaran, dan hasil pembelajaran. Analisis data dimulai dengan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan proses dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karya ilmiah mahasiswa. Peningkatan ini dapat dilihat dari proses dan hasil. Peningkatan hasil penulisan karya ilmiah dapat dilihat dari proses pembelajaran dengan pendekatan proses yaitu aktivitas mahasiswa, situasi kelas dalam pembelajaran karya ilmiah, dan produk penulisan. Penerapan pendekatan proses dapat meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam menulis karya ilmiah. Kata kunci: Pembelajaran menulis, karya ilmiah, pendekatan proses, berbasis cerita lisan, bermuatan sumber sejarah. Abstract The aim of this research was to investigate the effects of process approach in developing students’ skill in writing scientific articles based on historical folklore. The subject of this study were 90 Satya Wacana Christian University students during the first semester of 2021/2022 academic year. A qualitative approach was used in this study. The primary source of the data was the teaching learning process in an academic writing class using process approach. The procedure applied in this research was planning, acting, analyzing data, and report writing. Data were collected using field notes, teaching learning process documentations, and learning outcomes. The data analysis was conducted through a series of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing some conclusions. Based on the results and discussions, it was concluded that process approach improved university students’ academic writing skill. This increase could be observed in both the process and the results. The process approach improved students’ activeness during the teaching and learning process and academic writing skills as well as the classroom atmosphere. Hence, the implementation of process approach can increase university students’ skills in writing academic paper.
