In his dialogue The Prison published in 1674, Dassoucy tells of his extrême experience in the Châtelet. But he also tries to establish a compensatory identity, with the claims that he is a kind of « Diogenes of the prison ». This gives him a way to fuel a personal myth, thanks to a radical but ambiguous emancipation of speech and laughter.
