Purpose: The electrodynamic characteristics of circumferential slot arrays on a coaxial line shield and the ways of their control by changing the feeder, array geometrical parameters and electrophysical parameters of internal and external spaces are being studied. Design/methodology/approach: The problem of electromagnetic wave excitation and radiation by the circumferential slot systems in the infinitely thin and perfectly conducting shield of a coaxial line is solving by the magnetomotive forces method with the following creation of a multiparameter numerical model of a multielement antenna array. Findings: The energy characteristics, amplitude and phase distributions and radiation patterns of the circumferential slot systems cut in the shield of infinite and semi-infinite coaxial lines are examined with and without accounting for the external interconnection between radiators for different antenna parameters. Conclusions: The investigations of electrodynamic characteristics of circumferential slot systems in a coaxial line shield have shown a low influence of the external interconnection between radiators on the directional characteristics and a significant influence on the antenna energy characteristics. Also, the main differences between the properties of circumferential and arc slot systems have been noticed.
