Comicalités (Dec 2023)
Norbert Moutier, Collection Aventures. L’enfance et la sérialité à l’œuvre
Abstract
Norbert Moutier’s childhood graphic production compiles about 1000 original illustrated booklets, handmade from 1946 to 1960 by himself and his mother, Simonne Moutier. The whole is put in context by a series of 600 family photographs. The material of the corpus testifies in an extremely precise way to the changing relationship that a child, and then a teenager harbors to illustrated periodicals for children. It shows us the ways in which a young reader appropriated the entire serial logics at work in the commercial publishing of comics in the post-war period: from their narratives story to all their surrounding elements. It also questions the ludic practices linked to fiction as they unfold in the private sphere and in the relationship to adults. Finally, it questions the status of a production whose mechanics of imitation engender singularity, opening up new research perspectives.
