Abstract
Relevance. The acetonemic vomiting syndrome (non-diabetic ketoacidosis) is a common multifactorial pathology in children, in which metabolic disorders played a significant role. Diet therapy is one of the key elements of therapy of acetonemic vomiting syndrome. Goal. To determine the feasibility of including specialized baby nutrition PediaSure 1.5 into the complex therapy of acetone vomiting in children and to evaluate the dynamics of the main clinical indicators. Materials and methods. The study included 30 children aged 5 to 10 years old with recurrent acetonemic vomiting syndrome. At the time of examination all children had clinical indicators of acetonemic vomiting syndrome from 6 to 10 times per day, nausea, lack of appetite, weakness, ketonuria. The children were divided into 2 groups. The main group included 7 girls and 9 boys, mean age 5.90 ± 0.52 years old and the control group included 7 girls and 7 boys, the average age of 6.00 ± 0.40 years old. All the children were treated according to the protocol of MH, kept hypoketogen diet. Treatment scheme in children of the main group included PediaSure 1.5 one vial per day in a multiple dose within 10 days. Statistical analysis was carried out by comparing ketonuria duration, dynamics of clinical indicators in the main and control group. Results. The use of nutritional support in the form of PediaSure 1.5 in combined therapy had a statistically significant positive effect on the clinical manifestations of acetonemic vomiting syndrome in children. Tolerance of PediaSure 1.5, according to the questionnaire of parents was assessed as positive in all children. No adverse effects or adverse reactions in patients received PediaSure 1.5 was revealed in the study. Conclusions. The results indicate the feasibility of PediaSure 1.5 application in the treatment of acetonemic vomiting syndrome in children; it contributes to faster relief of clinical manifestations.
