The ocean faces growing threats from human activities, necessitating improved public ocean literacy and sustainable development. Natural history museums play a key role in fostering ecological awareness through interactive exhibits. Using the PRISMA framework, this review systematically analysed 174 articles on ocean conservation education in museums, focusing on sustainable development and interaction design. The review highlights how interaction design boosts public engagement, compares current methods and proposes a curatorial strategy framework. This framework integrates sustainable development goals, enhancing public awareness, skill development and promoting ocean sustainability through successful museum exhibitions.
