Miastenia grave: Reporte de cuatro casos Myasthenia gravis: Report of four patients
Abstract
La miastenia grave es una enfermedad autoinmune que se caracteriza por presentar debilidad muscular fluctuante y fatiga de distintos grupos musculares. La miastenia grave afecta a individuos de todas las edades, con una predilección por mujeres entre los 20 y 40 años. Los músculos oculares, faciales y bulbares son los más frecuentemente afectados por la enfermedad. Los pacientes manifiestan empeoramiento de la debilidad muscular, con infecciones intercurrentes, fiebre y agotamiento físico o emocional. La presencia de anticuerpos contra receptores de acetilcolina en un paciente con manifestaciones clínicas compatibles con la miastenia grave confirma el diagnóstico. El tratamiento de esta entidad es controvertido y debe ser individualizado, ya que no existe un régimen terapéutico uniforme para todos los pacientes. En este trabajo se realizó la presentación de cuatro casos diagnosticados en el Hospital Universitario Clínico- Quirúrgico Comandante Manuel Fajardo de Santa Clara en un período de 4 años.Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue of different muscle groups. Myasthenia gravis may affect persons of all ages, but especially women aged 20 to 40 years. The ocular, facial and bulbar muscles are most often involved in this disease. The muscle weakness of patients with myasthenia gravis becomes worse with intercurrent episodes of infection, fever and physical or emotional exhaustion. The presence of antibodies to acetycholine receptors in a patient with the clinical features of myasthenia gravis, confirms the diagnosis. Treatment is controversial. Therefore each patient has to be treated individually, as no single treatment is suitable for all patients. In this article we make the report of four patients.
