The Internet as a resource for geopolitical development
Abstract
Modern global processes generate both positive and negative situations in the development of society. The problems of globalization and the informatization of the society are introducing new vectors into the trajectory of social development, changing the course of social events, their intensity, content, nature and structure. The Internet, as a source of social change, acquires significant opportunities to influence the mass consciousness and behavior of large social groups in all regions of the world. Each participant of the global Network generates psychological actions that "move" through communication channels and, in general, form an Internet space. At the same time, the Internet acts as a kind of conductor and a repository of the general psychological potential of the network users. The Internet, in one of its dimensions, provides them with opportunities to organize mass events and group performances, mobilize protest movements, the possibility of direct broadcasting of ideological, religious and other value representations bypassing official channels. Due to such opportunities, the Internet as a tasty morsel for politicians, economists, social communities and individual interests attracts more attention. How powerful its impact on social development will become is not entirely obvious, therefore the psychology of the users of the global Network should increasingly become an object of professional attention of social and human sciences, in particular, social psychology.
