Sur l'exploitation rationnelle de l'aulacode Rongeur Thryonomyidé en R.P. Bénin. Données préliminaires

Abstract

On the rational exploitation of the Aulacode a thryonomid rodent in the People's Republic of Benin. Preliminary data. Breeding experiments have been made recent ly in the People's Republic of Benin with the Aulacode Thryonomys swinderianus (Temminck, 1827). A particular emphasis has been laid on the eco-ethology of this rodent in natural surroundings and on its behaviour in captivity. Preliminary results enable the authors to envisage a better use of this wild animal which is highly valued by the populations in Western Africa.
