La diaspora maghrébine à Montréal face aux aléas de l’interculturel: le rôle des médias locaux, transnationaux et communautaires
Abstract
This article aims to investigate the impact of ICT on structuring and consolidating new diasporic spaces, their position in a transational frame and their effects on intercultural relations in plural societies. Although our empirical analysis focuses on the Maghrebian community in Montreal, the scope of our analysis is much broader, and covers various stances and levels of migration in order to better understand the problematics of the diaspora in the contemporary world and consequently contribute to the debates it generates. The text is the result of literature review, direct observation and in-depth discussions with local researchers, representatives of ethnic and cultural communities and social actors interested in this phenomenon, and it relies on the conceptual distinction between what we define as “organic interculturality” and “instrumental interculturalism”.
