Pierre de Ronsard’s Les Derniers vers are not only a record of the last moments of the poet’s life, but they also present his lyrical and eschatological vision of the transition from one existence form into the another. This transition consists of various stages, which Ronsard described by referring to both: the Greco-Roman and Christian tradition. Ronsard’s eclecticism also combines Renaissance visions of life after the death with the upcoming Baroque aesthetics. Article interprets all these elements, presenting the different ontological status changes, which subject is the person speaking in the Les Derniers vers.
