In this paper we introduce the figure of the Italian writer Alba de Céspedes and, particularly, her novel of major national and international success: Nessuno torna indietro (1937). We will pay special attention to one of its translations into Spanish, in particular the third one, published in 1943. This translation, written under Franco’s regime, reduced and changed most of the contents which were included on the first two editions, more faithful to the original Italian version. We will particularly explore those parts of the novel in which the translator focuses his interest and the way he modifies, reduces or cuts out parts of the text in order to get through the hard Franco’s censorship filter.
