Abstract
Introduction: The present biographical report aims to know the experience of a Psychology student from the Matamoros Academic Multidisciplinary Unit at the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT), who lived with anorexia and bulimia, through her own words. In Mexico the presence of risk feeding behaviours in the teenager population has turned into a social problem. The results indicate 18.3% of the teenagers who were concerned about gaining weight, eating too much or losing control when eating. (National survey of Health and Nutrition [ENSANUT] 2006). Results: Because of a perceived rejection from my father due to the physical changes of my body, as I was turning into a woman and moving away from my dad, I unconsciously wished to continue being a girl and having a girl's body to keep my father` s love and attention. When did the disorder atrt? At the age of 13 -now I am 24. I was a thin person, I was never fat. One day my parents punished me for two months and I was not allowed to go out with my friends, and the only thing that I was doing was eating and eating, without realizing that I had already gained too much weigh and it was then that I started vomiting. Conclusion: Young people at the university are reactive to factors such as corporal dissatisfaction, concerned about their weight and the social pressure of aesthetic issues, regardless the socioeconomical context at a family or academic level.
