Explants from foliar limbs of Cemsa 78-354, Inivit B 90-1, Inivit B 93-1, Yabú-8 and Jewel tubers shoots put under semicontrolled laboratory conditions. They were sowed in a medium with Murashige and Skoog (1962) salts, (3%) sucrose, (0.6%) agar-agar, (0.1 mg.l-1) 2,4-D and (100 mg.l-1) myoinositol with a fixed pH of 5.8. The explants were put in contact with the medium. Put under energy illumination, permanent darkness and a 16 h artificial illumination photoperiod they were evaluated to morphogenic callus induction capacity. It was evaluated to morphogenic callus induction capacity. It was established that from both quantitative and qualitative viewpoint the morphogenic callus induction of yellows cream color and growths were higher under energy illumination condition. Key word: photoperiod, Ipomoea and tubers
