Secondary spinal epidural abscess to boil left elbow. Presentation of a patient
Abstract
The epidural abscess is a collection of pus in a space, it is presented in five people per 10,000, it is a medical emergency because of the potential risk of spinal cord compression and enables the progression of a irreversible motor defect to cause ischemia or thrombosis of nutritive vessels core. It is presented a male patient of 24 years old, white of urban origin, with a history of apparent health, two months before admission he presented boil in his left elbow and then began with a corresponding picture to the syndrome ponytail. Imaging studies showed the presence of a spinal epidural abscess that was treated with antibiotics and surgery; his evolution was satisfactory.
