Adone Agnolin, Ph.D. in Social History and Professor at the University of São Paulo, has been working for a long time in the area of Modern History, dealing with themes related to the History of Religions. In this interview, the historian traces a program and a historiographic trajectory, following the Italian School, of the consolidation of the discipline as an autonomous and open field of studies. In addition, the reader will find, in the lines below, comments on the methodological interdisciplinary raised by the manifestations of the sacred as object of analysis; the perspective of a Modern History in the light of encounters and readings between West and East; and the provisions that this matter has taken in Brazil in recent years.
