Abstract

The building of a new cemetery in Castellnou de Bagés on the ruins of the old town rectory is a fresh example of how the SPAL applies rigorous methodology to heritage preservation. The article below explains this methodology and the ideology behind it, which sees the intervention as the triggering of the regeneration process of a historic, urban and social framework. Heritage understood above all as the memory and emotion underlying a community’s identity rather than other more general considerations.
