Obtención de tetróxido de trimanganeso (Hausmanita) y sulfato de potasio a partir de residuos de laboratorio
Abstract
Obtainment of trimanganese tetroxide (Hausmanite) and potassium sulfate from laboratory wastes. In the laboratory practices a great amount of solutions is generated that, by their dangerous characteristics, cannot be rejected to the environment. The objective of this research was to recover liquid wastes with high concentrations of manganese and sulfate, from permanganometric titrations. The recovery consisted of precipitation of manganese oxide, by KOH addition. This oxide was calcined and characterized by FT-IR and XRD, confirming the formation of Mn3O4 (hausmannite). Additionally, a solution was obtained that contains sulfate and potassium ions, which under evaporation, high purity K2SO4(s) was recovered, that can be used as laboratory reagent.
