San Ignacio. Poema heroico: claves humorísticas en la imitación de las Soledades y el Moretum

Abstract

Hernando Domínguez Camargo’s work is one of the master-pieces in the xviith century American Poetry. His most ambitious book, San Ignacio. Poema heroico, imitates Góngora’s lexic and style, and also proves how the writer was able to learn in the Fábula de Polifemo y Galatea and in the Soledades two revolutionary devices: the presence of humour in epic poetry, the effects of the Sublim, a heritage of Helenistic theory.
