The use of fairytales as learning resources in the teaching of the French language in elementary education has a number of significant benefits on an educational, pedagogical, and cultural level, at the same time. This paper focuses on the utilization of fairytales as a text that can trigger production of written speech, and the realization of a workshop on creative writing in the FFL class. At the outset, we attempt to define what creative writing actually is and we go on to highlight the benefits of its implementation in primary schools. Next, we present the results and conclusions of exploratory empirical research conducted during the school year 2015–2016 involving sixth-grade students of three primary schools in the town of Serres. Consequently, the study data under analysis comprise the contents of the teacher logbook, the creations of the students before the phase of collective writing, and the answers to the questionnaire given to the students after their participation in the creative writing activities.
