An infrequent case of intussusception caused by gastrointestinal stromal tumor in an adult patient
Abstract
Intussusceptions may occur at any point along gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Unlike its idiopathic childhood counterpart it is infrequent during adult life and a definitive cause is usual, almost half of the cases develop with malignancy. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors derive from interstitial Cajal cells of the GIT. They are more frequent in the stomach and small intestines and frequently grow extraluminally, making it nadir to cause an obstruction or bleeding. We present an infrequent ileo-ileal intussusception due to GIT stromal tumor.
