The poet Johannes Kühn, who became internationally known in the 1980s and published more than 20 volumes of poetry, is considered the most renowned poet of the German region of the Saarland. This article presents an analysis of four selected poems written by the author, focusing mainly on two closely interwoven themes in Kühn’s poetry: home (Heimat) and nature. The theoretical basis for the analysis of the poems is the concept of Heimat developed by the cultural scientist Hermann Bausinger. At the same time, the thesis is put forward and proven that Kühn’s poetry is part of the classical-romantic tradition, whereby parallels to Romanticism in particular can be recognized.
