Torture, politics, and humor in Glauco Mattoso's poems (a reading of "Do decoro parlamentar", 2004, and Cautos Casos, 2012)
Abstract
In this essay, after making brief remarks about humor and its presence in Brazilian poetry, I analyze Glauco Mattoso's sonnet "Do Decoro parlamentar", from Poética na política (2004), and the book Cautos casos (2012) by pointing out how both works deal with the delicate and embarrassing relationship between torture, politics, and humor; in other words, between laughter and barbarism. --- DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.25094/rtp.2017n22a376
