2018 Presindetial elections in Georgia as a result of political transofrmations in the country
Abstract
2018 presidential elections in Georgia serve as an evident indicator of political transofrmations happening in the country. The preceding constitutional reform demonstrated raising tension between the ruling party, the President of the country and the opposition. Despite the fact that amendments to the Constitution were undertaken as a part of democratic reforms and transition to parliamentary democracy the risk of power consolidation in the hands of the dominant party has increased. Presidential elections despite the nominal role of the president might futher reiterate social content or disagreement with the political, social and economic changes of the last years
