This study approaches, from a constructivist perspective, the degree of "Europeanization" of journalistic discourse and practice in relation to the coverage of European Union-related themes. Built on the analysis of the media streams in which the "European" information is produced, the study highlights the processes of "transnationalization" and "nationalization" carried out by journalists when dealing with Community news and the constraints related to journalistic routines in different professional environments. The dominance effect of certain national frameworks of interpretation in journalistic fields represents a barrier for the emergence of a unified "European space". However, this does not prevent journalists from continuing to create and give meaning, through an exercise of representation, to the "European Union" as a media topic.
