GIS for Jelava deposit
Abstract
Many subdivisions of creative and geology were until now created only manually. Manual work will be sooner or later replaced by computers as a result of fast development and increasing quality of technical and software equipments of computers nowa days. Computers will also have a bigger influence in the area of projecting of mine-openings as well as in planning of mineral deposit extraction.Using new computer methods in these areas will enable automation and rationalization of mineral deposit extraction. This will have a positive influence at the effectivity of mineral deposit extraction. Using GIS methods in Geology in recent years increased considerably mainly because of improving hardware equipment, but also because of creating pressure of competition on the quality of outputs. Another reasons are increasing personnel qualification and accessibility of vector and raster basic data. Unfortunately analytical possibilities are often not used sufficiently and work is concentrated at the area of creation of graphical geological phenomenas and their presentation in paper-form. Return of an investment put into purchasing of expensive hardware and software technologies can only be achieved of GIS data created within the range of the project.SMZ-Jelava belongs to businesses investing into new technologies in theirs running-operations and so trying to reach the high level of the modern mining businesses of developed countries.
