La société morale. Enjeux normatifs dans les sociétés contemporaines

Abstract

The following text is the theme of the next congress to be held in Tunis by the AISLF (Association internationale des sociologues de langue française). Starting from the observation that social controversies are more and more often articulated around questions of "values", that "social problems" are read more and more often by resorting to the resources of morality, it proposes, as its subtitle indicates, to question the "normative stakes in contemporary societies". But it also provides an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between sociology and morality, on the status that sociology gives to the moral subject, on the role of moral economy in sociological explanation, and on the new regulations of the discipline through the multiplication of its "ethical regulations".
