This article historicizes the audiovisual production accomplished in and from North-Patagonia, from the perspective of cultural sociology. It seeks to explain the constitution process of a cultural formation of filmmakers that is constituted as such from 2001, but whose precedents can be traced back in the early years of the twentieth century. To that end, it suggests a periodization of three moments: 1) the origins of the audiovisual production (1960-1989); 2) the transition from the 90’s (1990-1999); and 3) the explosion of the years 2000 (2000-2010). The objective is to identify the charms and limitations in the development of the audiovisual production in North-Patagonia, paying special attention to cultural producers, their organizational processes, and the ways in which they interact with institutions and traditions to be able to produce within a provincial territory.
