Chinese Opera in storage: packing costumes and accessories (case study)

Abstract

This article results from a project concerning the packing for storage of Chinese Opera costumes belonging to the Kwok On Collection, from Museu do Oriente, Lisbon. This work had the collaboration of Laboratório José de Figueiredo/Direcção Geral do Património Cultural. Solutions for packing in storage were obtained and adapted to the specificities and the condition of the collection, taking into account questions, concepts and methodologies of preventive conservation applied to ethnographic objects, contributing thus for the preservation of this collection.
