Translation and Validation of the Catastrophic Cognitions Questionnaire Modified (CCQ-M): A preliminary study in male subjects Argentine
Abstract
In the absence of instrument to assess catastrophic cognitions in our local environment, the aim of this work is to make preliminary studies for the translation and adaptation of the Catastrophic Cognitions Questionnaire-Modified (Khawaja, Oei y Baglioni, 1994) to assess psychometric properties in males aged 45 to 75 years old. A principal components analysis with Oblimin rotation resulted in 13 items grouped in three dimensions: Emotional, Physical and Mental, which explained a total variance of 62%. To evaluate the reliability of the scores, these were calculated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient resulting in values of a = .82 for the Emotional Factor, a = .77 Physical Factor and a = .82 for the Mental Factor, which indicated adequate internal consistency. It will continue with further studies in other and more heterogeneous samples to confirm these results.
