Effectiveness of thioctic acid drugs (Espa-lipon) in the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy

Abstract

This article tells about the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy - the most common neurological complications of diabetes mellitus. The pathogenesis, diagnosis and current evidence-based treatments are described. Thioctic acid drugs for the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy which are selling in the Russian pharmceutical market are reviewed, and specific trade names are recommended for use. The results of the authors' own research on the treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy are demonstrated.
