O círculo da punição: O linchamento como cena de acusação e denúncia criminal

Abstract

Este artigo dá ênfase à análise da construção social dos linchamentos e à percepção desses eventos como “cena”, dotada de visualidade e dramaturgia próprias. As análises foram possí­veis a partir do exame de 42 vídeos brasileiros coletados no site YouTube. A observação dos registros é útil para verificar como os conceitos “acusação”, “denúncia” e “punição” são acionados na prática por um grupo de atores que, mesmo não intencionalmente, os coloca em prática du­rante todo o linchamento. Nesse casos, é possí­vel perceber a punibilidade sem limites que rei­fica uma única moral (a do grupo que participa do linchamento), tornando a acusação cabível e tolerada para aquele grupo. The article The Circle of Punishment: Lynching as the Scene of Criminal Accusation and Denuncia­tion focuses on the analysis of the social construction of lynching and on the perception of such events as a “scene”, possessing its own visuality and dramatics. The analyses were based on the examination of 42 Brazilian videos collected from YouTube. Observing these record­ings is useful to verify how the concepts of “accusation”, “denunciation” and “punishment” are engaged in prac­tice by a group of actors who, albeit unintentionally, put them into practice throughout the entire lynching. In such cases, one can perceive the punishability without limits that reifies a single moral (that of the group which is participating in the lynching), making the accusation plausible and tolerated for that group.
