Bread and Pastry Names in the Bulgarian Dialects of Ukrainian Danube Region

The article analyses and classifies the names of bread and pastry, functioning in the Bulgarian dialects of Ukrainian Danube region. The ceremonies, connected with baking of bread for different religious and family festivities among Bessarabian Bulgarians are described. The analysis of dialectological texts has shown that most of bread and pastry names in the Bulgarian dialects in the South of Ukraine have been formed on the general Slavonic basis. The given lexical group reflects the semantic peculiarity of local dialects, their preserved archaic signs. It was defined that part of the names of bread and pastry was borrowed from Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and Romanian, which is connected with polylinguality of Ukrainian Danube region.
